Subject: e1000e: 2.6.27-rc1 corrupts EEPROM/NVM

2.6.27-rc1 kernels appear to corrupt the EEPROM/NVM of the 8086:294c
ethernet device (ICH9 I think). After hacking the driver to ignore the
bad CRC and MAC address I could view the EEPROM with ethtool and it was
all 0xff.
Кхм . В двух словах - драйвер e1000e гробит EEPROM адаптера . Насмерть . На-сов-сем !

No NexentaStor Needed Soon

Просматривал обновления дерева исходных кодов OpenSolaris , наткнулся на занимательный баг : 6666748 System panic occured when attempting to view .zfs snapshot directory from CIFS client. Сам по себе он ничего ценного не представляет - были ошибки и “повеселее” , но в описание есть несколько очень занимательных строк , например Appliance Kit Fishworks Appliance Kit 1.0 fw_22 2008-02-06 . ZFS and Leopard Part III

Проблема с zfs на маке и солярисе , по всей видимости , не имеет ничего общего с собственно реализацией Zfs … Сначала выловил transport error на солярисе (osol-20071105) и , предположительно , corrupt метаданных - http://www.sun.com/msg/ZFS-8000-72 . Потом и на маке - те же яйца , только в профиль :

Do Sony VAIO® computers support Virtualization Technology (VT)?

Sony VAIO® computers do not currently support Virtualization Technology (VT).

Простите - но СЦУУУУКИ !!! Зачем тулить T5600 с поддержкой VT-x … Xen на Sony VAIO VGN-SZ5MRN/B под соляркой идет лесом :( Будет Windows Vista из комплекта + VMWare + Solaris внутри VMWare ( дожились , блин … Пенду ставить буду ) . СУУУКИИИ !!!
